A Glitch in the Matrix

I have been living through what is perhaps the worst presidency in U.S. history. I cannot understand how Bush has maintained so much of his support despite obvious failings in almost every area of his first term.

Are the American people just that tuned-out of politics and what is going on at large? Or has Bush perfected the ability to sidestep blame, capitalize on fear, and spin his shortcomings as successes?

I have a third theory. I am living in a Matrix construct, and the master program is beginning to malfunction. I have proof.
