Eliminating Witnesses
The world could use a hundred more Naomi Kleins and gutsy journalism like this.

Fall in Line
Concerned Women for America are vehemently against Arlen Specter chairing the Senate Judicial Committee.
They certainly have the right to voice their opinions, but what is interesting is the utter contempt they show for anyone who is not in line with the President.
Arlen Specter = Michael Moore. Got that? Apparently now there are only two camps, the far right, and terrorist-comforting leftist liberals.
The statement goes on show how out of line Specter is with President Bush. It then states:
So much for checks and balances. A Senator who is not strictly in line with all policies of the Whitehouse, we can't have that now, can we? To do so would be a "betrayal" of one's President, one's party, and one's country.
As if it wasn't scary enough that the Bush cabinet and CIA are being re-made with loyalists. Despite having a clear majority in both the House and Senate, the witch hunt must continue.

- Allowing Arlen Specter to chair the Senate Judiciary Committee makes no more sense than Michael Moore becoming chairman of the RNC."

- Specter betrayed President Reagan—we can expect him to betray President Bush.

Wired on Being Wired
Thanks to Wired for holding this story until after the election. Had they been able to pass a 2-milliamp current through Bush's skull, thus greatly improving his verbal capabilities, the election would have been a landslide.

How Not to Treat Your Allies
Update: To avoid confusing anyone I want to point out the "Mr. Howard" in the linked story is Michael Howard, Tory leader of the British government, not John Howard of Australia.
Alas not all is well with the Grand Coalition of the Willing. Forget for the moment the numerous countries that have already set dates to withdraw their support of our Iraqi invasion. There even appears to be trouble within the U.S.-Britain-Aussie love triangle:

- Mr Howard's remarks may appear bland. But in the language of diplomacy they amount to a rebuke to Mr Bush - and in particular to his polling guru, Karl Rove, who told him he would not be welcome at the White House after he criticised Mr Blair's use of intelligence before the Iraq war.
Mr Rove was reported by the Sun as telling Howard aides: "You can forget about him meeting the president. Don't bother coming."
